为了发扬艺术与人文领域的创新和发展，槟州华人大会堂青年团在母会的主催下，特地联合东厂舞群及舞蹈工厂艺术学院呈现，《白蛇传2009》现代舞剧公演；期望透过此次表演的经验及與各界的交流，可以进一步扩展槟州华人对于表演艺术领域的水准和視野。

【缘起】
白蛇传，一部华人民间流传的故事，以白蛇与许仙的曲折、缠绵的爱情悲剧，深深的打动了不同时代的人们。其中西湖借伞，水淹金山，断桥，雷峰塔等几幕脍炙人口的情节更为人们津津乐道。
其实最初的白蛇传不同于今天我们所看到的白蛇传， 故事是比较松散， 但是经过了漫长的流传与演变，再加上人们丰富的想像力及不断的修润和创造，终于呈现了一部我们熟悉的，完整的,歌颂忠贞爱情的白蛇传。
民间所谓“十年修得同船渡，百年修得共枕眠”说的便是白素贞与许仙的缘分。这个民间故事是有生命力的，再经过我们这个时代的人增补删减后，我们相信白蛇传还会不断的被歌颂和传唱下去。
Legend of White SnakeThis legend been told from generation to generation among Chinese community, which famous for its sad ending love story between the lady white snake and a young man name Xu Xuan.
The legend is about a white snake from supernatural realm, after a thousand years of meditation, succeeded to transform herself to a beautiful lady named Bai Shu Zhen, mean “white and pure”. She met a young human man Xu Xuan at lake side, and both of them fall in love at first sight. But the relationship is forbidden by a monk who took the duty to guard the balance between human world and the supernatural realm, with the reason the couple are from different dimension of the world, thus they are cannot be together, even though the white snake already in human form.
Even facing obstacle, lady white snake still persistent to the relationship and try whatever she can to pursue her love, but the human man fail her when the monk told him his wife is a thousand years white snake, and the story goes on…
